We know… Sometimes it's really hard to come up with new ideas for content to share with your audience – especially if you also want it to promote something you like.
Well, we want to help, so here are a few ideas to get you sharing.
This is the easiest, most low-hanging fruit: Create a list of brands and products you trust and like.
If you’re considered a bit of an expert on any topic, people will love to know which products you use. Write a sentence about each, maybe include a photo or two, and share your links and discount codes.
Call it something more fun than just "recommendations" – ”My faves”, “Stuff I love”, "Absolute Essentials" – and keep it evergreen by updating it when you discover new, great products.
Keep the link handy, so it’s easy to share whenever someone asks for a recommendation. But also when they don’t:
Link to it from other posts. If you have an email list, share the link to your reco page in the welcome email. When someone mentions a product in the comments, include a link to the page in your reply and tell them to find a discount code on that page.
Unlike other things you might do, that may only get engagement for weeks or days, or even just hours, a good recommendations page can be a hub that generates traffic and affiliate income for months and years.
Product reviews are an old classic, and we love ‘em!
Let us send you a sample or two of our products. If you like them as much as we think you will, tell your audience about it. Make a video, write a blog post, record a podcast, post photos on your socials … Do your thing!
Include your unique tracking link and discount code in the review, and get a cut of the sales you drive.
We’d be happy to write a post for your blog, or collaborate with you on content for your social media channels. Together, we’ll figure out a topic and angle that your audience will be interested in, and that we think will resonate with them.
We’ll do as much of the production as we reasonably think we can, without compromising on your voice and brand. Ideally, all you have to do is post it. And, of course, you include your affiliate link and discount code in any content you post to your own channels, and collect a commission on any sales we make together.
We absolutely love seeing all the beautiful photos some of you take, of kids wearing Ella’s Wool. Often surrounded by the most stunning nature, too. Some of you are amazingly talented photographers!
Thanks to you, we have a collection of fabulous photos that rivals that of companies with marketing budgets hundreds of times larger than ours. If you are a skilled photographer or videographer, we’re often happy to trade products for photos we can use in our marketing, even if you don’t have a huge audience.
And if you have an audience, all the better. Drop your link in the description, and share your discount code to earn commissions.
For new parents, there are a lot of first times. From baby’s first winter to the first time they take their children on a particular adventure, like fishing or skiing, they’re going to have a lot of questions and doubts.
Kids famously don’t come with a user manual, so why not help write the missing instructions? If there’s something you know how to do, spread that knowledge around. And, of course, include links to where people can buy the necessary gear or clothing.
A good checklist is like a soothing balm for the parent who’s anxious about forgetting something important. And so, whether they’re doing some Back to School shopping, or are preparing for baby’s first camping trip, they’ll appreciate your expert take on what to buy and bring.
We have to admit… Generally we’re not huge fans of giveaways.
They sometimes have the exact opposite effect of the one we want: People will hold off on buying from us in the hope that they might win a freebie instead.
However, if you have a great idea for a contest, we’d love to hear about it. We can’t promise anything, but if we see some way that it would make sense for us to help you, we’d be happy to.
Still don't know? Head on over to ChatGPT, and get some help to get started. You can ask for …
Ideas for topics. E.g. "Give me five ideas for blog post topics for winter-time parenting"
Ideas for content, once you know your topic. E.g. "What are ten fun things to do with your kids, outside on a snow day?"
Or even a first draft: "Write 800 words about activities to do with your children on an autumn weekend in New England"
ChatGPT isn't quite mature enough to work without adult, human supervision – not least since it is a bit of a fabulist that makes up facts at its own convenience – but it's an amazing assistant.
We have a series of one-page guides with advice for parents on how to dress their kids for the cold and take care of their wool, and lots of it can easily be repurposed in new blog posts or through social media. You can use it as it is, or remixed it into something slightly different. You can let it stand on its own and speak for itself, or you can add your own commentary. Just don't forget to
Take a look at our resources page and see if you can find something worth sharing with your own audience.
These are just some ideas, but you can probably come up with a ton of good ideas of your own – whether it’s your own take on something classic, or a wholly new approach to getting the word out.
